I am a believer you can’t have thanksgiving without cranberry sauce .Cranberries have a special marriage with the turkey.Every year I buy fresh cranberries and freeze them so I can have them on hand when I am ready to the sauce.I love homemade cranberry sauce because its so much better than the canned stuff and better tasting too.Its’s easy to make and takes less than 30 minutes to make.
I made orange pomegranate cranberry sauce I wanted to make something different .I used pomegranate juice along with the orange juice and added some vanilla extract and some whole spices like star anise and cinnamon sticks for extra flavor.The flavors really works well with the pomegranate juice I think you’d like it .It taste really good. So I hope you enjoy it.
2-1/2 cups fresh or frozen cranberries
1 cup orange juice
1/2 cup pomegranate juice
2 tsps orange zest
1-1/4 cup sugar
2 cinnamon sticks
2 star anise pods
1.In a medium or large sauce pan add the pomegranate and orange juice.Bring the juice to a boil.
2.Add the cranberries,the whole spices and the orange zest.
3.Add the sugar and mix with a spatula.
4.On medium high cook cranberries until they pop or burst open.
5.Put stove to medium heat and let simmer for 15 to 25 minutes .Stir occasionally .
6. Remove the sauce from the heat and put in into a container .Let it cool completely
7. Place the sauce into the refrigerator for 1 hour or overnight.The sauce will solidify when cold.
8.When ready to eat just transfer to a serving dish and enjoy!!!
